I was privileged to intern at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Fiji in the summer of 2015. Based in Suva, Fiji, I assisted the Special Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs (SAM). At MoFA I worked regular hours from 8-5pm daily, and got to experience working-life at a government department in my home country Fiji.

My work included preparing country briefs, doing secondary research, performing administrative tasks, and assisting at events. I was able to shadow the SAM, who mentored me personally and professionally.

Some highlights included sitting in during the sessions of the 38th African Caribbean Pacific (ACP) General Assembly held in Fiji, as well as the 29th ACP-European Union Joint Assembly. Additionally, I sat in on diplomatic meetings between Fiji-US, went to a cocktail hosted by the Australian Embassy, and meetings on climate change and preparation for the Prime Minister's visit to China.
